Introduction
1.1 About This Manual
This Instruction Manual for Hand-held Analyzer Type 2250, together with User Manual BE 1713, have
been created to fulfill the conditions of the following International Standard for Sound Level Meters:
IEC 61672–1 (2002–05), Class 1, Group Z
The manuals contain all the information required by clauses 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9 of the above standard.
Appendix B of this manual provides cross-references between specific paragraphs in the standards that
require topics to be documented, and the corresponding sections in this manual and User Manual
BE 1713 that conform to these.
This Instruction Manual supplements User Manual BE 1713, and together, the two manuals comprise
the full documentation of Type 2250 as required by IEC 61672–1, as well as the earlier standards
IEC 60651 and IEC 60804.
The User Manual provides all the information necessary for operating Type 2250, descriptions of the
measured quantities, and general advice as to proper measurement practices. The User Manual also
contains the technical specifications that are most likely to be of practical use when making standard
sound-level measurements. This information is not repeated in this manual, except for the specifica-
tions, which are given in full here. In the event of any unintended inconsistency between the User
Manual and the Instruction Manual, this manual takes precedence.
Both printed manuals (Instruction and User) will be supplied with each sound level meter or equivalent
instrument that conforms to the specifications of this standard.
Consult the relevant User Manual for detailed information on the Outdoor Microphone Kit UA 1404
(BE 1077).
